I was sitting in a waterfront bar in Moraira, Spain, one hot sunny Sunday afternoon, enjoying a cold beer and watching the world go by. Suddenly, a huge catamaran drifted into the bay and anchored off El Portet Beach. The paintwork was glinting in the sun.
Now, I’ve seen some pretty impressive catamarans in my time, but this was something else entirely.
Sunreef? Gunboat? HH?
BOOM.
This thing blew everything else out of the water.
I just had to find out what it was.
After a bit of digging, I discovered it had been designed and built by renowned naval architect Jean-Jacques Coste. I immediately picked up the phone and called him.
I’d first met J.J. years ago when he was designing the Yapluka aluminium catamarans in Caen, France, and later again when he was involved with projects at ISARA Yachts. He was also responsible for designing the two largest powered trimarans in the world - Galaxy and Galaxy of Happiness - built at Latitude Yachts in Riga, Latvia, where I spend half the year.
At the time, these two monsters were featured on the front cover of BOAT International Magazine. Sitting side by side, they looked like something from another planet - more Starship Enterprise than yacht.
Since then, I discovered there are quite a few Blue Coast Yachts sailing around the world. Names such as Rafoly, Black Swan, Cartouche, Masha Blue and many others have become well known in the supercat world.
Supercats, as I like to call them.
The World of Custom Supercats
Today, I work alongside J.J. helping promote these incredible designs and introducing clients to the team behind each build.
Every yacht is fully custom built, starting from 82 feet and extending all the way up to 200 feet. Clients can choose between aluminium or carbon fibre construction, carbon rigs, rotating masts and virtually any specification imaginable.
This is not production boatbuilding.
This is bespoke yacht construction at the very highest level.
We can only build a maximum of two yachts per year, so naturally this doesn’t come cheap. There is a design fee, a substantial initial deposit, and stage payments that may well make your eyes water.
But if you’re looking for the very best, there simply isn’t another option. Nothing - and I mean absolutely nothing - comes close.
Even when surrounded by the largest superyachts in the marina, a Blue Coast Yacht still steals the show. Wherever one arrives, people stop and stare. It genuinely takes your breath away.
The Ultimate Luxury Experience
We’re receiving more and more enquiries from wealthy clients looking for something truly unique. Not just a little bigger or a little faster, but something extraordinary.
If you’re a Premier League footballer, an oligarch, a crypto billionaire, or simply someone who wants every single box ticked on the options list, then congratulations - you’ve made it.
I’ll happily roll out the red carpet at the shipyard in Riga and throw rose petals at your feet! I want to help you spend all that hard-earned crypto.
Seriously though, come and visit us in Riga. Meet J.J. and the rest of the team and see firsthand how these incredible yachts are built. Your dream yacht will be in safe hands.
These guys know exactly how to build the ultimate catamaran when only the very best will do. Compared to anything else currently on the market - and I mean anything - the BCY 82 will simply eat it alive.
